The aim of this Introduction to Counselling Skills course is to develop a student’s understanding of the application of counselling skills to everyday and workplace situations and provide a sound foundation for career/personal development.
The course demonstrates how the ethical use of counselling skills can enhance a primary role (whether as a teacher, healthcare worker, social worker, administrator or volunteer) in a range of helping and supervisory situations.
Lesson 1: Learning to Learn
Lesson 2: Active Listening
Lessons 3 & 4: A Model for Helping/Responding Skills
Lesson 5: Getting There – Goals, Targets and Endings.
Upon completion of this course you may take a final online examination. Full details of this examination are automatically sent to you at the end of the course. The examination costs €65 and is taken at home at your convenience. If you receive 70% or more in this examination you will receive an ITEC – Irish Training and Educational Centre Resource certificate.
